Styrene Ethylene Butylene Styrene (SEBS) compounds

Styrene-Ethylene-Butylene-Styrene (SEBS) is produced by the hydrogenation of Styrene- Butadiene-Styrene (SBS).

SEBS compounds behave like rubber without undergoing vulcanization. SEBS has high mechanical strength, favorable flexibility, excellent heat, and UV resistance (Due to the absence of a double bond in the main skeleton), and is easy to process.

SEBS

SEBS is often mixed with other polymers to increase their performance. They are used as impact modifiers for engineering thermoplastics and as tougheners/flexibles for transparent polypropylene.

Generally, the important applications of SEBS compounds are:

  • Hot melt and pressure-sensitive adhesives
  • Toys
  • Shoe soles
  • modified bitumen products for road asphalt and roofing applications
  • gaskets
